SciServer Compute Workshop
Overview
The SciServer 2016 Spring Workshop will feature SciServer Compute, which uses Jupyter Notebooks to integrate SciServer Tools in a Docker Container.
- Set up a SciServer Notebook
- Authenticate with the SciServer Login Portal
- Import and query SDSS with CasJobs
- Save your data and graphics locally
- Save your data and graphics on SciDrive
- Save & Retrieve your data in MyDB
The workshop will focus on demonstrations and examples familiar to astronomers and cosmologists. Participants are expected to be familiar with Python. Pre-registration is open to members of the greater Johns Hopkins Community, and the Space Telescope Institute. Other interested parties should email SciServer to check on space and availability.
Pre-registration starts April 4, 2016. Please Pre-Register, as space is limited. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees who have pre-registered.
Example Notebooks
We have developed a number of Example Notebooks that illustrate the capabilities of SciServer Compute, which implements Jupyter Notebooks in persistent Docker Containers. During the workshop we will lead you through a full-featured example Notebook, then provide you with additional example Notebooks with which you can fully explore features that interest you.
